Spice teams up with Coolpad to launch quad-core Spice Coolpad MI-515

Spice has launched the quad-core Spice Coolpad MI-515 smartphone for Rs 9,990. The launch comes just days after the company said that it would be bringing Android Nation stores to India, in association with Google. At the time Spice had also said that it will be introducing Coolpad, one of the top phone makers in neighbouring China, to the India. Now, the MI-515 is the first device in the new Spice Coolpad series.

In addition, the company says the MI-515 is the first smartphone with a 5-inch display and a sub-Rs 10,000 price tag. By our reckoning, it is also one of the cheapest quad-core devices you will find today. It’s powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor of unspecified make. The display is a 5 incher, with qHD resolution.
Shipping with Jelly Bean, the MI-515 comes with 1GB of RAM. All this is fitted into a chassis that’s 9.9 mm thin. Other specifications of the dual-SIM phone are very much in keeping with its mid-range place. The 5-megapixel shooter on the back won’t be competing for many awards, just like the VGA front-facing camera. The battery is a 2000 mAh Li-ion polymer unit. 3G (HSPA+) and Wi-Fi capabilities are a given and there’s Bluetooth 3.0 and the usual sensors like an accelerometer, a proximity sensor and an ambient light sensor. Spice claims audio output on the MI-515 should be great due to the inclusion of DTS sound technology. Though, again, there are no specifics here.
